Holmes Air Purifier HAP412GN

by Dorothy
(South Carolina, United States)

I have owned several air purifiers. I currently use a Holmes Air Purifier HAP412GN. It has HEPA-type filtration which helps to remove dust and pollen, mold spores, smoke, pet dander.

I have allergies, and asthma. This makes it possible to control my asthma and makes for a much cleaner environment.I usually have one in the living room and also in the bedroom.

I have had this one for about two years, it works very well and is running but is very quiet. The one I had previously was a GE but it was very loud and seemed to work well but was much too loud. The one I now own uses a pre-filter and also an enhanced odor filter. The activated carbon in the odor filter absorbs most of the odors. Within an hour of having the purifier on I notice a difference and my breathing is much easier.

If I need to get another one I would certainly get the same brand. It has worked well, and the fact that I barely hear it is a major plus for me.

I usually change the filters about every 6 months I am sure that I should do it more often but that seems to work well. I clean the prefilter as needed. The filters I have purchased at Wal-Mart and are very low cost. I haven't noticed that the cleaner uses up any more electricity than having an alarm clock plugged in.

I really believe that everyone should own one of these. They are wonderful at cleaning the air. And no matter how much you clean pollen and dust are very hard to get rid of.

To change the filter

You have to unscrew the two screws on the bottom, not near the power cord but next to them. They are the two towards the back of the purifier. Then take of the back of the purifier using the grip at the top of the purifier.
